Pac-10 : Ducks hold off Sun Devils

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

Tajuan Porter scored 24 points and No. 13 Oregon held on to beat Arizona State 55-51 Thursday night at Eugene, Ore.

Porter was 8 for 12 from the field with six 3-pointers for Oregon (20-4, 8-4 Pac-10), which scored its fewest points of the season.

The Sun Devils (6-17, 0-12) rallied in the second half. They outscored Oregon 21-9 in the first 10:26, with 18 of those points coming off six 3-pointers. Derek Glasser made four 3-pointers, including one at the 9:33 mark to tie the game at 42.

The Ducks scored the next five points to reclaim a 47-42 lead, and a 3-pointer by Maarty Leunen with just less than 5 minutes to play gave Oregon a 50-44 advantage.

Though the Ducks wouldn’t hit another field goal in the game, Leunen seemingly sealed the win from the foul line, knocking down a pair of free throws with 44 seconds left to make it 52-45.

(24) Arizona 72, Oregon St. 66: At Corvallis, Ore., Marcus Williams scored 23 points in another big performance against Oregon State and the Wildcats beat the Beavers.

Ivan Radenovic had 19 points, making 13 of 16 free throws, and Jordan Hill added 12 points and 11 rebounds in his fourth start for the Wildcats (16-7, 7-5 Pac-10).

Sasa Cuic had a career-high 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting to lead Oregon State (9-16, 1-11), which has dropped seven straight and appears to be on its way to a 16th non-winning season in 17 years.
