Priest River dominates

Priest River scored the first 15 points of the game Friday and cruised to a 73-19 win over St. Maries in a 3A Region 1 playoff game at Lakeland High School in Rathdrum.

Cody Smith scored 11 points and Brian Nelson added 10 for the Spartans, who led 31-8 at halftime.

Priest River (11-10) did not let up in the second half as it outscored the Lumberjacks 42-11.

Aaron Harty chipped in nine points and Jake Christman added five points and a game-high 10 rebounds for the Spartans, who forced St. Maries (3-18) into committing 12 turnovers in the first half.

Andrew Scott added a team-high five steals for Priest River.

The Lumberjacks will advance to play Bonners Ferry today at 2:30 p.m.

Dalton Baker tallied a team-high seven points for the Lumberjacks, who are finished for the season.
