Miners top Pirates in consolation
NAMPA, Idaho – Lisa Carver scored a game-high 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting and grabbed six rebounds Saturday, leading Wallace to a 58-44 win over Prairie in the consolation championship of the State 1A girls basketball tournament at Columbia High School.
The fifth-place Miners took advantage of the Pirates’ poor first-half shooting and built a 16-point halftime lead.
Krista Williams scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Cara Hayman added 14 points, six assists and five rebounds for Wallace (15-11).
The Miners shot well from the floor. Wallace was 20 of 35 from the field while Prairie converted on just 14 of its 51 field-goal attempts.
Tiffany Schaeffer scored a team-high 12 points and Kaylee Uhlenkott added 11 to lead the Pirates (17-11).
Wallace made it to the fifth-place consolation championship game by beating Council and Cascade after losing to Shoshone in the first round.
