North Idaho rolls past Yakima Valley on mat

North Idaho College’s wrestling team made quick work of its opponent Thursday night with a 47-3 dismantling of host Yakima Valley Community College.

In the opening match of the night, at the 125-pound weight class, Cardinals freshman Travis Temple recorded a pin of the Yaks’ Darrin Frasquillo in 1 minute, 24 seconds.

Another NIC newcomer, Dino May (165), dominated his match with a 17-1 technical fall.

Arena football

The Spokane Shock of arenafootball2 announced that lineman Paul Cheng has been added to their 2007 roster.

Cheng has playing experience with British Columbia, Calgary and Montreal of the Canadian Football League.

College basketball

The Pac-10 Conference will take on the Big 12 Conference in basketball starting next season.

The series, modeled after a similar arrangement between the ACC and the Big Ten, had been under discussion for years.

The deal is for four years.

The 2007 schedule includes Washington State at Baylor on Nov. 30 and Washington at Oklahoma State on Dec. 1.
