Sasquatch women win
Community Colleges of Spokane erased a six-point halftime deficit Wednesday night through 17 points from freshman guard Liz Beardslee to steal a 59-54 women’s basketball road win from Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges foe Walla Walla.
CCS (13-5, 3-2) shot 43 percent from the field as a team and 13 for 18 from the free-throw line while limiting the Warriors (10-8, 3-2) to three 3-pointers.
Ren Mallory added 15 points and Kelly Neal pulled down six boards for the Sasquatch.
Men’s basketball
Curtis Carlson drained 10 field goals for Walla Walla (15-3, 5-0) for 29 points to lead the Warriors to a 78-68 victory over the CC Spokane (10-10, 2-3) in NWAACC play at Walla Walla.
Ben Mitchell scored 18 points, but the Sasquatch couldn’t overcome a 48-37 deficit in the second half in which WWCC shot 54 percent.
