Twins 20-12, White Sox 14-0: At Chicago, Torii Hunter homered, Jason Kubel hit a grand slam, and Minnesota handed Jon Garland one of the worst beatings of his career while outscoring the White Sox in the first game a day-night doubleheader. Justin Morneau homered three times to help the Twins take the second game.

Tigers 9, Red Sox 2: At Detroit, Curtis Granderson led off the fifth with a home run and Marcus Thames added a grand slam in the inning, lifting the Tigers to a victory over Boston. Rookie Andrew Miller gave up one run and three hits over seven innings for the Tigers.

Blue Jays 8, Indians 6: At Toronto, Vernon Wells homered and drove in three runs, Roy Halladay remained unbeaten against Cleveland, and the Blue Jays defeated the Indians. Wells went 2 for 4 and was intentionally walked in the fifth.

Yankees 14, Angels 9: At New York, the Yankees set season highs for runs and hits (19) – every starter had a hit and an RBI – and New York routed Los Angeles. Alex Rodriguez rejoined the Yankees lineup after suffering a strained left hamstring to hit a home run and score three runs.

Devil Rays 6, Royals 5: At Kansas City, Mo., Brendan Harris and Delmon Young drove in two runs apiece and Tampa Bay snapped an 11-game losing streak. James Shields went 7 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits, with six strikeouts and no walks.

Rangers 4, Orioles 3 (10): At Arlington, Texas, Michael Young’s one-out RBI single in the 10th inning gave Texas a victory over Baltimore after Rangers closer Greg Gagne gave up a run in the ninth for his first blown save of the season.
