Blue Jays 9, White Sox 3: At Toronto, Aaron Hill hit a tiebreaking double in the seventh inning and Alex Rios added a three-run homer in the eighth to help the Blue Jays beat Chicago. Dustin McGowan gave up three runs on six hits in seven innings to win his second straight start.
Red Sox 11, Yankees 6: At Boston, Mike Lowell homered to start a Red Sox comeback as Boston beat New York. Kevin Youkilis, who came in with a 23-game hitting streak, was the only Red Sox starter who didn’t get a hit. He drew a walk in the eighth to end the streak.
Tigers 9, Indians 5: At Cleveland, Ivan Rodriguez and Magglio Ordonez had four hits each to lead Detroit over the Indians. Ordonez matched a career high with four hits, including a two-run homer in the third.
Athletics 1, Twins 0: At Oakland, Calif., Joe Blanton pitched a career-best three-hitter, Shannon Stewart broke a scoreless tie with a double play groundout, and the Athletics beat Minnesota. After Luis Castillo’s two-out base hit in the third, Blanton retired the next 11 Twins hitters.
Royals 9, Devil Rays 4: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Emil Brown hit a three-run homer and Kansas City beat Tampa Bay. Brown hit his second homer of the season during a four-run fourth that put the Royals ahead 8-1. Perez gave up four runs and eight hits in five-plus innings.
Angels 7, Orioles 4: At Anaheim, Calif., Mike Napoli hit a two-run homer, Joe Saunders pitched well in an emergency start for the ailing Bartolo Colon, and Los Angeles beat Baltimore. Saunders allowed two runs and four hits in six innings, striking out none and walking three.
