Samantha Skillingstad struck out nine and allowed two hits through five innings as Shadle Park (1-0, 1-0) coasted to an 11-1 Greater Spokane League win over visiting Central Valley (0-1, 0-1). Tressa Predisik broke the game open for the Highlanders in the third with a two-run homer that put Shadle up 11-1. Skillingstad was 3 for 3 at the plate.

In other GSL play, Gonzaga Prep (1-0, 1-0) exploded for five runs in the top of the sixth and edged host Rogers (0-1, 0-1) 14-11. The Bullpups took advantage of three Pirates errors to break the game open. Stacey Hamer scored four runs and stole three bases to lead G-Prep. … Kelsie Vallies struck out 10 and allowed two runs and two hits through seven strong innings as North Central (1-0, 1-0) topped visiting University (0-1, 0-1) 4-2. Cheynne Dellorosa’s two-run double in the bottom of the third put the Indians on top for good. … Katie Kine and Alex Cey had three RBIs apiece as Mead (1-0, 1-0) routed visiting Ferris (0-1, 0-1) 16-6 in five innings. Melanie Mobley picked up the win for the Panthers. … At Hart Field, Mt. Spokane exploded for eight runs in the third and cruised to an easy 15-4 win over host Lewis and Clark (0-1, 0-1) in five innings over the Wildcats (1-0, 1-0).

Kyle Kinard and Evan McCain each had a goal and an assist as Pullman cruised to a 4-1 Great Northern League win over host Clarkston. McCain broke a 1-1 tie with a goal in the 52nd minute and the Greyhounds (1-0, 1-0) never looked back. Jake Wagner scored the first goal of the game for Clarkston (0-1, 0-1) in the 15th minute. … Elsewhere in the GNL, Adam Zakrezes scored both of Cheney’s goals as the Blackhawks shut out host Medical Lake 2-0. After a scoreless first half, Zakrezes scored a goal in the 43rd and 78th minutes. Cheney (2-0, 1-0) outshot the Cardinals (1-1, 0-1) 13-4. … Tyler Bland and Josh Nyberg each scored a second-half goal as Riverside blanked visiting West Valley 2-0. Jaime Rebuelta had an assist on both goals. The Rams (1-0, 1-0) dominated the action, outshooting the Eagles (0-2, 0-1) 17-7. … Deer Park (1-0, 1-0) scored the first six goals of the game and cruised to an easy 7-1 victory over visiting Colville (0-2, 0-1). … Jeremy Tate scored two goals and Drew Brittan had three assists as Lakeside shutout Chewelah 6-0. Eric Alexander, Ulli Heimann, Casey Duclos and Nathan Field also scored a goal for the Eagles, who outshot the Cougars 16-6.
