Samantha Skillingstad struck out nine and allowed two hits through five innings as Shadle Park (1-0, 1-0) coasted to an 11-1 Greater Spokane League win over visiting Central Valley (0-1, 0-1). Tressa Predisik broke the game open for the Highlanders in the third with a two-run homer that put Shadle up 11-1. Skillingstad was 3 for 3 at the plate.
In other GSL play, Gonzaga Prep (1-0, 1-0) exploded for five runs in the top of the sixth and edged host Rogers (0-1, 0-1) 14-11. The Bullpups took advantage of three Pirates errors to break the game open.
