CdA Library offering ‘Signing Babies’ class
COEUR d’ALENE – “Signing Babies” will be offered at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library, 201 E. Harrison Ave., on Thursday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
“Signing Babies” is designed for parents and caregivers of hearing children, newborns to 2-year-olds, who want to learn to communicate using American Sign Language. Expectant parents also are welcome. Participants need not bring their children, but they also are welcome.
According to Russ Patterson, interpreter for the deaf who will teach the class, babies who are using their hands to point at objects normally are ready to learn American Sign Language.
The class is free, but donations to the Deaf Club will be accepted. Participants also will receive a 50-word glossary of American Sign Language.
To register, contact the Youth Department at the library at (208) 769-2315.
