MEDICINE HAT, Alberta – Brennan Bosch’s goal 7:16 into the second overtime period gave Medicine Hat a thrilling 3-2 win over Vancouver on Monday, earning the Tigers the Western Hockey League championship.

Medicine Hat also had goals from Tyler Ennis and Daine Todd as the Tigers overcame the Giants in seven games. Finals MVP Matt Keetley turned away 37 shots in goal for Medicine Hat.

Wacey Rabbit and Michal Repik responded in regulation for the Giants. Tyson Sexsmith made 34 saves in goal.

The Tigers and Giants had already qualified for the 2007 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Vancouver starting May 18.

The Giants will be there as the host team and the Tigers were going as the WHL representative, but that’s now upgraded to WHL champion.

They will be joined by the QMJHL champion Lewiston MAINEiacs and the OHL champion Plymouth Whalers.
