Tigers 8, Angels 7: At Detroit, Magglio Ordonez had his 20th career two-homer game and the Tigers held on for a win over Los Angeles, snapping the Angels’ six-game winning streak. Carlos Guillen and Curtis Granderson also homered for Detroit. Mike Napoli’s three-run homer in the eighth off Jose Mesa pulled the Angels within a run.

Twins 5, Rangers 3: At Arlington, Texas, Justin Morneau homered for the third time in two games and Boof Bonser won his third straight start, leading Minnesota over Texas. Bonser allowed two runs and six hits in five innings, struck out six and walked two.

Yankees 8, Red Sox 3: At New York, Andy Pettitte pitched seven innings, Hideki Matsui hit one of two homers off an ineffective Curt Schilling, and the Yankees beat Boston. Light-hitting Doug Mientkiewicz also connected to help the Yankees take two of three in the series.

Royals 11, Indians 7: At Kansas City, Mo., John Buck and Mike Sweeney each homered for the second straight game, fueling a five-run second inning and the Royals rolled past Cleveland for their eighth victory in the past 10 games. Mark Grudzielanek was 3 for 5 with a homer and three RBIs for Kansas City.

Athletics 4, White Sox 0: At Chicago, Chad Gaudin threw seven-plus scoreless innings, Hiram Bocachica hit his first home run in almost three seasons and Oakland beat the White Sox. Bocachica hadn’t homered since Aug. 27, 2004, when he was with the Seattle Mariners.

Orioles 5, Blue Jays 2: At Baltimore, Corey Patterson stole home at the end of a botched rundown, Brian Roberts went 3 for 3 with two walks, and the Orioles beat Toronto.
