Solar incentive

The Spokesman-Review

Washington is the only state with a solar-production incentive, said Bruce Gage, co-owner of Eco Depot, supplier of a solar array for the remodeled Saranac Hotel. Legislation enacted in 2005 created production incentives of 12 to 54 cents per kilowatt-hour generated by individuals and businesses using solar, wind or anaerobic digesters for power, according to the Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency. The incentive is capped at $2,000 a year and runs through June 30, 2014. It’s paid by utilities, which earn a tax credit equal to those payments.
