Red Wings take shootout
Johan Franzen scored the winning shootout goal in the fifth round of the tiebreaker and the Detroit Red Wings snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday in Columbus, Ohio.
Detroit’s Chris Osgood stopped Sergei Fedorov to keep the Red Wings in the game and then he gloved David Vyborny’s shot to end it.
Canucks 4, Flames 1: At Vancouver, British Columbia, Markus Naslund and Henrik Sedin each had a goal and an assist, and Roberto Luongo made 29 saves to lift the Canucks to a win over Calgary.
Minnesota 4, Colorado 1: At St. Paul, Minn., Matt Foy scored for the first time in more than two years, Aaron Voros and Brent Burns added goals for the second time in two games, and Minnesota beat Colorado.
Stephane Veilleux also scored for the Wild.

The NHL suspended Vancouver defenseman Mattias Ohlund for four games for his stick-swinging hit on Minnesota forward Mikko Koivu Friday. … Chicago Blackhawks forward Rene Bourque will miss at least a month after breaking his thumb during Saturday night’s 5-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
