Dale Jr. still fans’ choice

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s popularity with fans paid off again this year with him winning the NASCAR Most Popular Driver Award for a fifth consecutive year.

Earnhardt Jr. got 1.4 million of the more than 3.8 million votes cast online. Jeff Gordon finished second, followed by Michael Waltrip.

Richard Petty and Bill Elliott also won the award five straight years.
