Area Roundup: CC Spokane men win 10th straight

Kevin Bourland’s goal in the 30th minute was all the Community Colleges of Spokane men’s soccer team needed in a 2-0 non-conference win over Great Falls Tuesday in Great Falls, Mont.

Adam Zakrzewski added an insurance goal in the 75th minute for the Sasquatch, who have won 10 straight matches.

Josh Peck made four saves for CCS.

The Sasquatch improved to 16-2-1.

Men’s golf

Washington State finished 12th out of 17 teams at the Sycuan Collegiate Invitational at Willow Glen Golf Course in El Cajon, Calif.

Freshman Nick Ellis notched his first career top-10 finish to lead the Cougars. Ellis shot a 1-over-par 73 in the final round to finish in a tie for seventh with a three-round total of 222.

Sophomore Kevin Tucker tied for 45th with a 231.

Wichita State took the team title, finishing with a 20-over 884.

Wichita State’s Ryan Spears was the individual champion after shooting a 1-under 215.

Women’s golf

Community Colleges of Spokane finished second out of three teams at the Skagit Valley Invitational at the Avalon Golf Course in Mt. Vernon, Wash., on Monday.

Kelsey Harting led the Sasquatch, finishing sixth with a two-day total of 188.

Green River took the team title.

Football
