Pirates 7, Brewers 4: At Pittsburgh, Ronny Paulino singled in the go-ahead run during a three-run eighth inning and the Pirates beat Milwaukee. Matt Capps pitched the ninth for his 16th save. All 12 of his pitches in the ninth were strikes.
Marlins 5, Nationals 4 (12): At Miami, Todd Linden singled in Reggie Abercrombie with two outs in the 12th inning to lift Florida to a victory over Washington. Byung-Hyun Kim tied a career high with 10 strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings for the Marlins.
Reds 5, Cardinals 1: At Cincinnati, Bronson Arroyo allowed one run over six innings and Edwin Encarnacion had a homer and three RBIs as the Reds handed St. Louis a loss.
Rockies 12, Padres 0: At Philadelphia, Matt Holliday lined into a triple play, then hit a three-run homer his next time up to start Colorado on a romp over the Phillies.
Mets 4, Braves 3: At New York, Shawn Green hit a tiebreaking single in the eighth inning and the Mets defeated Atlanta. Marlon Anderson homered off John Smoltz.
Cubs 3, Astros 2: At Houston, Rich Hill allowed three hits over seven innings and Chicago earned a victory over the Astros. Hill struck out seven and walked three for the Cubs.
Dodgers 6, Padres 1: At Los Angeles, Chad Billingsley limiting San Diego to one run over six innings and the Dodgers beat the Padres. Billingsley allowed five hits and one run in six innings with four walks and five strikeouts.
Diamondbacks 9, Giants 4: At San Francisco, Mark Reynolds and Chris Snyder hit back-to-back home runs to help Brandon Webb win, and Arizona beat the Giants.
