ESPN’s weekly College GameDay Driven by State Farm men’s series and the Saturday Primetime game-of-the-week telecast will return for a fifth season, and the event will make a return trip to Gonzaga University and the city of Spokane.

The Bulldogs will host the University of Memphis Feb. 7 as part of the College GameDay lineup.

The show came to Spokane Feb. 11, 2006, when the Bulldogs downed Stanford 80-76.

This year’s game between the Bulldogs and the Tigers will be played at the Spokane Arena as the third annual Ronald McDonald House Charities Classic. Tip off is 6 p.m.

“It’s the right decision for my family and it’s the best decision for my career,” Shackleford said.

Brink cut; Chatman next?

Former Washington State quarterback Alex Brink was cut by the Houston Texans and the Newark Star-Ledger reported that the New York Jets will let former Eastern Washington University running back Jesse Chatman go today.

Brink, a rookie, saw limited action with the Houston Texans completing 4 of 11 passes for 15 yards plus an interception in a preseason loss to Tampa Bay Thursday night.

Chatman would be a surprise cut after the six-year veteran rushed for 164 yards in preseason play. That includes 93 yards on 29 carries and a touchdown (180 total yards) in a victory over Philadelphia Thursday.
