Northport defeats Curlew with huge fourth quarter

Visiting Northport erupted for 27 fourth-quarter points to break open a close game and post a lopsided 73-55 win over Curlew in the Panorama League opener for both schools.

The Mustangs (1-2), who led 46-45 at the end of the third quarters, were paced offensively by Marseilles DeAugero, who scored 24 points, and David Meldrum, who added 19.

Jordan Wakefield finished with 24 points, nine rebounds and six blocks for Curlew (3-1).

District 9 North League

St. John-Endicott 61, Pomeroy 49: Junior Warren Miller dropped in 22 points and senior Wyatt Sitton added 20 – with 16 of those coming in the second half – as the visiting Eagles (3-2) slipped past Pomeroy, which got 13 points from Kevin Curneutt.

Garfield-Palouse 52, Tekoa-Oakesdale 43: Tyson Palmer threw in 23 points and Todd Pinter added 12 as the Vikings (4-1) turned aside the Nighthawks (1-2) in the league opener for both teams. Casey Cook and Branson Hovde each finished with 14 points for Tekoa-Oakesdale.

Non-league

Lake City 69, Medical Lake 52: Ben Frisbie knocked down three of his seven 3-point attempts and finished with a game-high 21 points in leading Lake City (3-0) past the visiting Cardinals (1-1), who were paced offensively by Ray Erwin’s 12 points.

Freeman 45, Colville 38: Taylor Vold scored 14 of his game-high 25 points in the second half and led the visiting Scotties (4-1) past the Indians (0-2). Colville, which got 11 points from Alias Prouty, was hindered by 21 turnovers.

Mira Costa (Calif.) 61, Coeur d’Alene 58: Coeur d’Alene got 19 points from Devon Austin and 13 more from Connor White, but they weren’t enough to keep the Vikings (1-1) from losing in Mira Costa, Calif.

Republic 60, Columbia 51: Jesse Beck pitched in 20 points and teammate Kaleb Koontz added 14 as visiting Republic (1-2) turned back the Lions (0-2), who got a game-high 21 points from Marcos Morado. The Tigers benefited, as well, from a 16-for-24 night from the foul line.

Moscow 48, Pullman 41: Moscow (2-2) made 19 of 23 free throws and got a combined 35 points from Mac Stannard and Nick Clyde in sneaking past the visiting Greyhounds (0-1), who got 17 points from Jaron Hodge.

Sprague-Harrington 52, Wilson Creek 46: Brett Lamer scored 14 points and teammate Travis Gossett came up with 10 steals and eight rebounds in leading the Falcons (1-1) past visiting Wilson Creek.

Deer Park 67, Newport 38: Colby Mattausch scored 15 points to lead a quartet of double-figure scorers for Deer Park as the Stags (1-2) romped past the visiting Grizzlies (1-3), who got 11 points from Jeremiah Schultz. Tevin Hines, Jason Henning and Dallin Lundgren each finished with 12 points for Deer Park.

Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 54, Riverside 44: Dillon Watkins and Brady Blankevoort each scored 16 points in leading visiting and unbeaten Lakeside (4-0) past the Rams (0-3), who got a game-high 18 points from Joey Nyberg and nine rebounds from Brian Scott.

Odessa 34, Moses Lake Christian 30: Easton Crossley hit a pair of free throws with 10 seconds left to give Odessa some breathing room and the Tigers (2-2), who got eight points from Aaron Bruya and 13 rebounds from Travis King, went on to edge visiting Moses Lake Christian.

Selkirk 57, House of the Lord 36: Selkirk (5-0) used Zach Jensen’s 18 points and a team total of 17 steals to roll to an easy victory. Trevor Turpin added 12 points for the Rangers, who also got 13 assists and 10 steals from Colton Enyeart.

Superior (Mont.) 45, Lakeside (Plummer) 31: Superior used Tyler Stenberg’s 16 points and a solid defensive effort to turn back visiting Lakeside (0-3), which got 12 points from Merlin Weaselhead at the St. Regis Tournament.

St. Regis, Mont., 42, Mullan 41: Host St. Regis downed the Tigers (0-1) to advance to the championship game against Superior, Mont. Mullan will play fellow North Star League member Lakeside (Plummer) today at the tournament.
