NC boys shortchanged

What a disappointment to see the short-shrift The Spokesman-Review has afforded the North Central boys cross country team!

Why aren’t the tremendous successes of this team and its coaches being celebrated?

For the last year they have been contenders on the national athletics scene, something rarely true of local prep athletic teams. They are returning home true national champions, and as you indeed did note, the first boys cross country national high school championship team from west of the Mississippi.

Your decision to only squeeze them in to the corner of sports section coverage undermines the magnitude of the team’s success and ignores an opportunity to celebrate local Spokanites who have made a name for themselves on a nation stage.
