Emmerson resigns as NC football coach

Grady Emmerson has resigned after three years as head football coach at North Central.

During his tenure the Indians were 4-34, including 0-8 this year after reaching the State 3A playoffs in 2007.

“We gracefully received his resignation and will be looking for a replacement real soon,” NC activities coordinator Marty Robinette said.

“I guess you could call it a mutual decision,” Emmerson said. “By the end (of a meeting on Friday) I told them I would turn in my resignation and did.

“I leave on happy terms and definitely want to coach somewhere next year.”

Emmerson, 32, was picked two times as defensive coach of the year in the Greater Spokane League when he assisted at Gonzaga Prep and East Valley. He said he will explore options either as a head coach or assistant.
