Eagles look for turnaround
Eastern Washington University’s men’s basketball team will attempt to apply the brakes to a three-game losing skid tonight, when it entertains Evergreen State College in a non-conference matchup that tips off at 7:05 at Reese Court.
The Eagles (6-4), playing their third game in six days, are coming off a lopsided 83-50 road loss to Washington on Saturday night and are still experimenting with various lineup combinations less than a week after gaining the services of preseason projected starters Chris Busch and Adris DeLeon. Both players missed the first eight games of the season because of eligibility issues.
Evergreen State (7-2), an Olympia-based school that plays in the Cascade Conference, is ranked No. 16 nationally, among NAIA Division II teams. The Geoducks knocked off defending NAIA Division II national champion and Cascade Conference rival Oregon Tech in its last outing.
The Geoducks are paced offensively by junior guard Nathan Menefee, who is averaging 23.3 points and four assists per game. Their top rebounder is Steve Trotter, a 6-foot-8 senior, who is averaging nine per game.
