Saint Mary’s is back in the polls at No. 24, but it might be another short stay. The Gaels (12-1) visit No. 14 Texas on Saturday. Saint Mary’s cracked the rankings in mid-December, but lost its next game to Southern Illinois. … Diamon Simpson has tied Brad Millard for most career blocks in Saint Mary’s history (153). … Interim head coach Eddie Sutton, two victories short of 800 career wins, is 0-2 since taking over at San Francisco. “There are so many things we need to do,” said Sutton, following a 73-61 loss to Utah Valley State. … Sophomore Nik Raivio, younger brother of ex-Gonzaga player Derek Raivio, leads Portland in scoring at 13.5 points per game. He’s made 40 percent of his 3-point attempts and 88.2 percent at the free-throw line. … Pepperdine’s top five scorers are freshmen, led by Tyrone Shelley (15.6) and Malcolm Thomas (15). The Waves visit No. 2 Memphis on Saturday.
