Sasquatch women fall short
Layne Tucker didn’t miss a shot all night and the Walla Walla Warriors missed just four shots from the floor in the second half en route to a 69-58 victory over the Community Colleges of Spokane Sasquatch in Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges play on Wednesday at Spokane Community College.
Tucker was 6 of 6 from the floor, including 2 of 2 from 3-point range, and hit both her free throws to tie for game-high honors with 16 points.
Walla Walla (17-2, 4-2) hit 15 of 19 shots (79 percent) in the second half and overcame a five-point halftime deficit.
Kellee Neal scored 16 points and snared five rebounds to pace the Sasquatch (14-4, 5-1). Ashlee Michelson contributed 13 points and four rebounds.
Men’s basketball
Robert Lippman scored 16 points and Jordan Gregg added 11 points and eight rebounds to power CC Spokane (19-1, 6-0 NWAACC) to a 72-66 victory over visiting Walla Walla (7-12, 3-3).
Walla Walla’s Mark Minarik led all scorers with 20.
Wrestling
The North Idaho Cardinals closed out their home season with a 29-20 win over Simon Fraser.
Nektoe Demison (125 pounds), Tim McGoldrick (157) and Ben Lecoultre (184) all notched pins for the Cardinals.
Football
Wide receiver Mutsumi Takahashi has been assigned to the af2 Spokane Shock for the upcoming season.
The 5-foot-7, 175-pound Takahashi spent three seasons with the AFL’s New York Dragons.
Also, the Shock released defensive lineman Ben Siegert.
