Monday’s N.L. results
Pirates 10, Astros 7: At Pittsburgh, Nate McLouth and Ryan Doumit each hit home runs to lead ten Pirates with at last one hit in a win over Houston. Adam LaRoche reached base four times, scored twice and drove in a run as eight Pirates had RBIs.
Mets 10, Phillies 9: At Philadelphia, Pedro Martinez pitched into the sixth inning then watched New York give back nearly all of a nine-run lead before holding on for a victory over Philadelphia. Martinez allowed five hits and two earned runs in 51/3 innings.
Rockies 4, Brewers 3: At Milwaukee, Ubaldo Jimenez baffled the Brewers in a Colorado victory, putting a damper on what had been a daylong welcome to Milwaukee party for CC Sabathia. Jimenez gave up three hits in seven innings.
Dodgers 3, Braves 0: At Los Angeles, the Dodgers scored three runs in the fifth inning in support of Hiroki Kuroda’s near-perfect game. Nomar Garciaparra hit a two-run home run and Matt Kemp added an RBI-single for Los Angeles. Kemp is 8 for 29 with six walks since manager Joe Torre switched him to the leadoff spot seven games ago.
Marlins 3, Padres 1: At San Diego, Jorge Cantu hit a two-run home run off Greg Maddux and that was enough to carry Ricky Nolasco and Florida to victory over San Diego. Nolasco (10-4) won his fifth straight decision, holding San Diego to one run and five hits in eight innings.
