What: The Inland Northwest Trails Coalition’s Spring into Action gathering; chance to meet representatives from 16 non-motorized trail and paddling groups.
When: Thursday, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Office building for Mountain Gear, 6021 E. Mansfield in Spokane Valley.
Who: Includes at least seven bicycling groups, several endurance racing groups, several hiking and paddling groups, a climbing group, nordic skiing groups, conservation groups, a backcountry horse group and more.
Details: Bring an outdoor item for a white elephant exchange.

Agency honors wildlife advocates
The Washington Fish and Wildlife recently honored 10 citizens and groups who’ve made standout contributions to fish and wildlife. Volunteer of the year awards went to:
Chuck Smith, houndsman from Okanogan, for exceptional help with cougar monitoring program.
Mike Estes of Kennewick, for developing system to give seized game meat to charities.
David Beatty of Bellingham, for 15 years of work to preserve fish and wildlife in the Skagit and Nooksack watersheds.
Also, Lenny Hahn has been named WDFW employee of the year for his extensive involvement in community activities that bring awareness to wildlife resources.

Multisport camp for youths
What: Multisport outdoor adventure summer camp, includes skill-building in rock climbing, sea kayaking, canoeing, whitewater rafting, sailing and hiking.
Who: For youths ages 12 to 16, sponsored by North Idaho College’s Outdoor Pursuits.
When: June 23-27 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: NIC’s Coeur d’Alene campus.
Cost: $249, includes gear usage, transportation and instruction.
