You can call this Web 4.0. As in, what will you do next with a gallon of gas now costing $4 per gallon?

While you’re at the mercy of the gas-price gods this summer, the Web lets you adjust your driving style or shop around for best deals. Here are five sites to reduce your oil consumption:

Fueleconomy.gov — This useful site is produced by the U.S. Department of Energy, so it has plenty of numbers and figures. One handy option: The car comparison table that shows you the relative cost of operating a car or truck, compared with other vehicles. The table can be adapted to fit your driving and local gas prices.

Automotive.com — This site provides a desktop widget that tracks best gas prices in your ZIP code.

Spokanegasprices.com — One of several reliable, not-always-up-to-date trackers of prices.

Drivesmarterchallenge.org – A self-guided checklist that helps find ways for each driver to curtail waste and improve gas efficiency.

•For those wanting tips delivered to their mobile device, we recommend the Mobio cell phone cheap gas tool. Find it at http://getmobio.com/learn/cheapgas.
