GU volleyball opens in Utah

Gonzaga University opens its volleyball season today at the Weber State Invitational in Ogden, Utah. The Bulldogs will play Utah Valley today. Saturday they play Utah State and Weber State in the round-robin tournament. They play in two more tournaments before playing host to Washington State on Sept. 15.

As reported Thursday, the region’s other Division I programs – WSU, Eastern Washington and Idaho – also begin play today.

In a pair of non-league games that matched teams from the Inland Empire League, Post Falls’ boys and girls both won by 3-0 scores over Lakeland.

At Lakeland, Matt Howard, Dalton Vanderpol and Charlie Redline scored for the Trojans. In the Trojans’ victory at home, Olivia Mouchette, Stefanie Siers and Jennifer Briseno scored.
