Lake City shuts down PF

It’s beginning to seem like Lake City boys basketball coach Jim Winger is picking up where he left off.

After taking five years off, Winger is back in his second stint at LC, and his Timberwolves played their best defense of the year, stifling previously unbeaten Post Falls 58-42 at PF.

Ben Frisbie led LC (7-2, 2-0) with 13 points and Shawn Reid’s 14 led PF (8-1, 1-1).

Coeur d’Alene 53, Sandpoint 52: Devon Austin scored 14 points as the visiting Vikings (4-6, 1-1) edged the Bulldogs (0-5, 0-2). Stefan Buratto scored 22 for Sandpoint.

Great Northern League

Riverside 47, Cheney 46: Jacob Biggs’ free throw with 5 seconds left lifted the Rams (3-4, 1-1) over the host Blackhawks (2-6, 0-2). Joey Nyberg led the Rams with 19 points.

Medical Lake 48, Colville 35: Ray Erwin had 22 points to lead the visiting Cardinals (5-4, 2-1). Alias Prouty had 10 for Colville (3-5, 0-2).

Clarkston 43, West Valley 41: The Eagles (5-2, 1-1) opened a 14-0 lead, but the Bantams (3-4, 2-0) charged back at home. Dustin McConnell led Clarkston with 15 points and Jordan Lupfer-Graham had 28 for WV.

Northeast A League

Freeman 44, Lakeside (Nine Mile) 27: The Scotties (11-1, 3-0) held the Eagles (6-7, 1-1) to 13 percent shooting at Freeman.

Newport 57, Chewelah 51: Devon Willenbrock had 18 points to lead the Grizzlies (8-6, 1-1) over the Cougars (9-4, 0-2).

Bi-County League 2B

Northwest Christian 55, Liberty 40: The Crusaders sailed to victory behind the 23 points from Chase Ramey at Liberty (3-6, 0-3). Trever Anderson led Liberty with 10.

Panorama League

St. George’s 75, St. Michael’s 29: The Dragons (4-4, 3-0) overwhelmed the Warriors (1-6, 1-4) as Jordan Dickson had 15 points.

Selkirk 37, Inchelium 27: Casey Holter had 17 points to lead the visiting Rangers (9-1, 3-0) past the Hornets (2-7, 1-5).

Springdale 63, Cusick 60 (OT): Nick Metlow had a game-high 26 points to lead the Chargers (6-4, 2-1) over the Panthers (9-2, 6-2) at Springdale. Spencer Shanholtzer had 23 for Cusick.

St. George’s 75, St. Michael’s 29: Jordan Dickson had 15 points to lead the visiting Dragons (4-4, 3-0) past the Warriors (1-6, 1-4).

Curlew 69, Columbia (Hunters) 53: Jordan Wakefield had 28 points and 16 blocks as the Cougars (8-4, 5-3) handled the Lions (1-8, 1-6) at Columbia.

District 9 North League

Rosalia 43, LaCrosse-Washtucna 19: Jim Maley had 17 points as the visiting Spartans (6-6, 2-3) topped the Tigercats (1-5, 0-2).

Tekoa-Oakesdale 69, Asotin 44: Brandon Hovde had 20 points, eight rebounds and seven blocks to lead the Nighthawks (5-2, 3-1) past the visiting Panthers (5-2, 1-1).

Non-league

Colfax 56, Odessa 22: Ryan Conrad had 11 points to lead the Bulldogs (6-3) over visiting Odessa.

Lind-Ritzville 65, Sprague-Harrington 26: Jamie Stevenson had 14 points to lead the Broncos (6-3) over the host Falcons (1-7).

Wilbur-Creston 53, Valley Christian 51: The Wildcats (5-3) needed all of an 11-point lead to hold off the visiting Panthers (1-7). Austin Snavely had 20 points for W-C.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 73, Davenport 58: Derek Isaak led the host Warriors (8-3) with 28 points.
