Gonzaga women sweep
The Gonzaga women’s rowing team won gold in all four events on the final day of the WIRA Championships on Lake Natoma in Sacramento, Calif., closing out one of the most successful weekends in the program’s history.
The Bulldogs won the Varsity 8+, Junior Varsity 8+, Novice 8+ and Varsity 4+ to claim the WIRA Efficiency Trophy. It’s the first time in school history Gonzaga has claimed gold in all the races it was participating in.
The Varsity 8+ and Novice 8+ have won the event three times in the past four years.
Jana Holcombe, Liz Moore and Hannah McClintock earned All-WIRA first-team honors.
For the Gonzaga men’s team, the Varsity 8+ and Junior Varsity 8+ won gold and the Novice 8+ won silver.
Pat Swihart, Brendan McCarthy and Greg Malman earned All-WIRA first-team honors.
