Traded The Minnesota Twins acquired shortstop J.J. Hardy on Friday, sending speedy outfielder Carlos Gomez to the Milwaukee Brewers in a trade.
•The Chicago White Sox picked up Mark Teahen in a trade from the Kansas City Royals, getting a new third baseman in exchange for infielders Chris Getz and Josh Fields and cash considerations.
Fined Green Bay Packers Johnny Jolly, Al Harris and rookie B.J. Raji were fined $5,000 each by the NFL for actions in last Sunday’s loss to Minnesota. Arizona DT Darnell Dockett was hit for $5,000 for a helmet-to-helmet contact in a game with Carolina, and Panthers tight end Jeff King was fined the same amount for striking an opponent late. Cleveland linebacker Kamerion Wimbley was fined $7,500 for roughing the passer. Indianapolis linebacker Clint Session was fined $5,000 for roughing the passer.
Declared Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant is headed to the NFL. Bryant plans to enter the 2010 NFL draft, disclosing his intentions late Thursday after the NCAA rejected a final appeal by the school to reinstate the junior All-American who lied about contact with former NFL player Deion Sanders.
Extended The Arizona Diamondbacks exercised Brandon Webb’s $8.5 million option, the team counting on the former Cy Young winner coming back successfully from shoulder surgery. The 30-year-old right-hander was the team’s opening-day pitcher last season, giving up six runs in four innings, then did not take the mound again the rest of the year.
•Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez exercised his $20 million contract option for 2010. Ramirez hit .290 with 19 home runs and 63 RBIs in 104 regular-season games. He missed 50 games while suspended for violating baseball’s drug policy.
•Los Angeles Angels general manager Tony Reagins has agreed to a long-term contract extension. The Angels have won the A.L. West in both of his years as GM.
Appearing Tennis player Richard Gasquet will go before the highest court in sports Tuesday for what he says was a cocaine-tainted kiss in a nightclub. Gasquet failed a drug test after pulling out injured from a tournament in Florida in March and was suspended.
