Roundup: Eagles turn away Bulldogs
Eastern Washington rallied to beat Gonzaga 24-26, 25-14, 25-22, 25-18 in non-conference volleyball play Tuesday in Cheney.
Hayley Hills led EWU (11-5) with 20 kills and 15 digs. Teammate Chenoa Coviare added 12 kills.
Layne Brosky led GU (5-9) with 13 kills.
Men’s golf
Kyle Huus fired a 1-under-par 71 and Derek Cheney shot 72 to lead Gonzaga to a tie for 10th place at the Wolf Pack Classic in Reno, Nev.
The Bulldogs shot a tourney-best 291 in the final round and finished at 879 – 32 strokes behind first-place Wichita State. Cheney led GU with a 213 and tied for 21st place.
Jarred Bossio (217, tie for 17th) led Idaho (877), which finished ninth.
Women’s golf
Gonzaga finished tied for 13th at the Heather Farr Memorial Invitational in Erie, Colo.
Texas Tech – behind medalist Alex Gibson’s 3-under 213 – won the team title at Colorado National Golf Course.
Sage Suffecool paced GU with a tie for 34th at 231.
Kellie Holmstedt carded a 241 for Eastern Washington, which placed last in the 20-team event.
