Sidelined United States soccer team defender Oguchi Onyewu has a torn tendon in his left knee, an injury that usually requires a recovery time of 3-4 months. The AC Milan defender fell down on the slick turf of RFK Stadium during the 83rd minute of Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw against Costa Rica in a World Cup qualifier and left the field on a stretcher.

•Washington Wizards forward Antawn Jamison will miss the rest of the team’s exhibition games with a right shoulder injury. Jamison is a two-time All-Star who led the Wizards in scoring average last season at 22.2 points.

Filed A former Penn State tailback who hoped to play in the NFL claims in a lawsuit that authorities ruined his professional aspirations after filing a rape charge against him that was later dropped. An attorney for Austin Scott filed the civil suit this week against Centre County prosecutors, Penn State police and the university in federal court in Williamsport, Pa. The suit said Scott suffered “mental pain and suffering” and diminished “earning capacity” because of the case.

•Ex-Detroit Red Wings star Sergei Fedorov is suing his former Michigan attorneys, claiming they share responsibility for the loss of millions of dollars invested with another client. Fedorov says the Birmingham law firm Hyman Lippitt PC had a conflict by representing him and financial adviser Joseph Zada. Fedorov says he’s out $60 million through Zada and a Wayne County judge recently ruled that the hockey player is entitled to the money.

Fined The NFL fined Tennessee Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch $5,000 for his hit last Sunday on Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning.

Interviewed Former Washington manager Manny Acta was interviewed by the Cleveland Indians for their managerial opening. Acta, fired by the Nationals in July, spoke with Indians general manager Mark Shapiro by phone earlier this week.

Mending New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes is expected to be ready for spring training following surgery on his injured right leg. Reyes, who didn’t play after May 20, had surgery in Dallas at North Central Surgical Center. The procedure cleaned scar tissue from the torn hamstring tendon behind the knee. Reys hit .279 in 36 games.
