Overview: For the second straight year, the Pirates’ goal has become closing the season with four consecutive wins. After a 2-3 start in 2008, Whitworth won its last four to extend its streak of winning seasons to five. Whitworth won last week, 24-15 at Puget Sound, and has two of its final three at home. The Pirates’ remaining opponents have a combined record of 3-13. Menlo had a bye last week following a 14-3 win over UPS. The Oaks have committed a NWC-leading 18 turnovers, a big reason for their 12 points-per-game average. Whitworth freshman Taylor Eglet was impressive in his first start at quarterback against UPS.
