NWAACC honors Jimenez, Hogan

Sophomore Rigoberto Jimenez and freshman Julie Hogan were chosen NWAACC cross country athletes of the week for their performances in the Inland NW Clash.

Jimenez turned in a personal best of 25 minutes, 6 seconds over 8,000 meters to lead the Sasquatch to a third-place finish in the men’s race against a field that included Eastern Washington, Idaho, Gonzaga, Washington State, University of Calgary and Lewis-Clark State.

Hogan turned in a time of 21:40 for 5,000, a PR, improving by 3:45 over three weeks.

•East Valley graduate Nick Atwood turned in his best time of the season – 24:41 over 8,000 – to lead Montana State’s cross country team at the Indiana State University Pre-National meet at Terre Haute, Ind., on Oct. 17. Atwood, who placed 48th, has been dealing with a recurring knee injury.

•Shadle Park graduate Tyler Nelson was the medalist at the Northwest Conference Fall Classic golf tournament last Sunday with a 36-hole total of 3-under-par 141 in Portland. It was Nelson’s fifth tournament win in as many events this fall as he led Linfield to the Classic team title. Results of the Classic count for one-quarter of the 2010 team championship. Competition resumes in the spring.
