Agreed Driver Brad Keselowski’s long courtship with Penske Racing ended Tuesday when he took an offer to move to the Sprint Cup Series. Keselowski, who had been hoping to move into a Cup ride with mighty Hendrick Motorsports, will instead drive the No. 12 Dodge next season. He’ll replace David Stremme, and run full schedules in both the Cup and Nationwide Series.

Arrested Police arrested former University of Kentucky basketball star Edward Davender in a scam to sell fraudulent season tickets for the upcoming season. Lexington, Ky., police say Davender is charged with three felony counts of theft by deception and one count of trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school. Davender, 43, played from 1984 through 1988, including two years as an all-Southeastern Conference player.

Filed Michigan head football coach Rich Rodriguez has been sued in federal court by a bank claiming he failed to pay back millions on a loan for a struggling Virginia condominium project, according to court documents. The suit – filed Aug. 13 in U.S. District Court in Spartanburg, S.C., and served on Rodriguez at his Ann Arbor, Mich., office last week – says the coach owes a bank $3.9 million for defaulting on a loan to build condos near Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Va.

Signed Cyclist Levi Leipheimer, who will ride once again with Lance Armstrong, signed a two-year deal with the seven-time Tour de France winner’s newly formed Team RadioShack.

Shot Alabama defensive end Brandon Deaderick was released from the hospital after being shot in the arm during a robbery attempt at an off-campus apartment.

Granted The NCAA won’t have to immediately release public records about Florida State’s appeal of an academic cheating penalty. An appeals court in Tallahassee, Fla., granted a temporary stay to the NCAA.

Died Former Oklahoma State and SMU football coach Dave Smith died Saturday in Granbury, Texas, of cancer. Smith, 76, led OSU during the 1972 season, going 6-5. His record at SMU, from 1973-75, was 16-15-2. A memorial service was planned for Friday at McKinney Memorial Bible Church in Fort Worth.
