SAWGA deadline nears

Entry deadline for the Spokane Area Women’s Golf Association Championship Tournament is Aug. 25 and limited to the first 124 golfers.

Golfers from 13 area golf courses who are members of SAWGA will play the first round at Manito Golf and Country Club on Sept. 14, followed by play at Deer Park on the 15th and concluding at Esmeralda on the 16th.

The first City Championship for women was played at Downriver in the 1920s. In 1962 the city association was reorganized and the name changed to SAWGA.

SAWGA members play in three separate competitions throughout the year, Review Cup, Sweeps and this Championship Tournament which is the final competition of the season.
