Zags will be OK
I can’t speak for anyone else, but I think I am going to enjoy this season’s Zags basketball team more than most.
Honestly, the past 10 or 12 years have somewhat immunized us against what most teams face from year to year. While it was hard to watch the Cougs pound GU Wednesday night, I couldn’t help but feel that this was one more (let’s hope the last) step toward the bottoming out process that every team goes through from time to time (see Texas football).
I’m looking forward to seeing who the leaders are going to be that step up and take charge, and to see which of the newest Zags will break through to be the next Pendy (David Pendergraft) or Cory (Violette). And I believe that Coach (Mark) Few will look back on this year as one of his most satisfying efforts, although right now it may not look like it.
They may not win the conference or even make the Dance, but I have a feeling that it is going to be a most exciting season where the last games of the schedule will be the biggest regular-season games they have played in years.
Best of luck to the whole GU program. Thanks for all you have done for Spokane, and for what you have yet to achieve this year.
