Kennewick man among dead in Egypt bus crash

Tri-City Herald
A Kennewick man was killed in a tour bus crash in Egypt on Sunday. Mike Braun died when the bus with 37 passengers collided with a disabled truck near the southern Egyptian city of Aswan, the Tri-City Herald reports. Sue Flink, a retired educator also from Kennewick, was seriously hurt in the crash, the newspaper is reporting on its website. Braun was director of the Franklin County Noxious Weed Board and a former longtime employee of the South Columbia Basin Irrigation District. He was active with the Moose Lodge in the Tri-Cities. Flink, 61, is in a hospital in Cairo. She has two broken legs, but her injuries are not life-threatening, said her sister Colleen Cowan. The couple were part of a group of about 100 tourists in three buses heading to the ancient Egyptian Abu Simbel temples when the accident happened at about 5 a.m.
