Traded The New Orleans Hornets have traded starting shooting guard Devin Brown to the Chicago Bulls for backup 7-foot center Aaron Gray. The 31-year-old Brown has played in 39 games for New Orleans this season, starting all but two games.

Reinstated Michigan basketball coach John Beilein has reinstated guard Manny Harris after a weekend suspension for an incident at practice. Harris apologized in a statement released by the school, saying he made a poor decision during Friday’s practice. Details of what happened have not been disclosed.

Agreed A person familiar with the negotiations says catcher Carlos Ruiz and the Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to an $8.85 million, three-year contract that avoids salary arbitration. The contract includes a $5 million club option for 2013 with a $500,000 buyout.

•Right-handed pitcher Dave Bush and the Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to a one-year contract for $4,215,000. With the deal the sides averted an arbitration hearing. Bush can make an additional $110,000 in performance bonuses.

•New Florida State defensive coordinator Mark Stoops has agreed to a three-year deal with the school that guarantees him $400,000 a year. The contract also allows Stoops to collect postseason bonuses based on his existing $205,000 base salary.

Returning Soccer coach Diego Maradona will be coaching again when Argentina plays Costa Rica. Maradona had been suspended for two months by soccer’s governing body for a profanity-filled rant after his team qualified for the World Cup.

Suspended New Jersey Devils draft choice Patrice Cormier was suspended for the remainder of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs for a violent hit on an opposing player. Cormier, a 19-year-old forward the Devils selected in the second round of the 2008 draft, was suspended by the QMJHL for elbowing Mikael Tam, sending the Quebec defenseman into convulsions. The 18-year-old Tam spent two days in the hospital because of brain trauma.

Upheld German cyclist Stefan Schumacher has lost his appeal of a two-year global ban for doping at the Tour de France. The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that the International Cycling Union was right to ban the 28-year-old German. He can race again after Aug. 27, 2010.

Scheduled Heavyweight boxer Wladimir Klitschko will defend his titles against American challenger Eddie Chambers in March. The fight is scheduled to take place March 20 in Duesseldorf. Klitschko holds the IBF, WBO and IBO titles.
