Gelatos, sorbetto get rave reviews
This cool spring weather doesn’t exactly inspire cravings for cold treats. But when hot weather finally arrives it will be the perfect excuse to pick up some of Talenti’s new gelato or sorbetto.
Most tasters on The Spokesman-Review’s reader food panel were swooning over the rich flavors and smooth texture.
“Wow! Incredibly smooth and chocolaty, but light,” said Jenny Whittaker of the Belgium Milk Chocolate. “A great way to end a meal.”
Andy Hoye agreed: “Great texture and flavor.”
Overall, the milk chocolate gelato received four and a half stars out of five for flavor.
Although they had trouble guessing the flavor of the blood orange sorbetto, that doesn’t mean tasters loved it any less.
“Intense citrus flavor,” Whittaker said. “A nice way to cleanse the palate.”
The sorbetto also received a four-and-a-half-star rating.
The Tahitian Vanilla Bean gelato scored slightly lower, with three and a half stars, but the only complaint tasters listed was that it was a little too sweet.
“I could eat a bowl of this for dinner!” said Larry Inman said. “I wouldn’t really, but it would be fun.”
Perhaps we should have served it first.
