Seattle needs win
TUKWILA, Wash. – Michael Seamon circled the game at Philadelphia on his calendar as soon as he joined Sounders FC.
Having grown up in nearby New Jersey and then playing at Villanova, he thought it could be the chance to play in front of family and friends for the first time as a pro.
Little did he know that Seattle (4-6-3) would be in dire need of a win to get back into playoff contention. The chance comes today at the last-place Philadelphia Union (2-7-1) in the new PPL Park.
The weather could contribute to a hostile environment, with potential game-time temperatures around 90 degrees.
“We’re playing them in what should be their most emotional game of the year from a standpoint of opening up their stadium,” Seattle coach Sigi Schmid said.
