Pleaded Two former Oregon State football players and a current team member who took a golf cart on a joyride in March all plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle. Former linebacker Keaton Kristick was sentenced to 25 hours of community service, while former quarterback Lyle Moevao received 40 hours and defensive tackle Brennan Olander received 65 hours.

Arrested The wife of Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade surrendered to authorities in Chicago and was released an hour later after posting a $10,000 bond. Siohvaughn Wade’s brief stay in custody came a day after a Cook County judge angrily ordered her brought in when she failed to appear for a hearing in the couple’s contentious divorce.
Sidelined Steelers wide receiver Limas Sweed has been placed on the injured reserve list because of a torn left Achilles tendon, a move that means he cannot play this season.
Promoted Former associate coach Andrew Toole has been promoted to head basketball coach at Robert Morris. Toole takes over for Mike Rice and at age 29 becomes the youngest head coach in NCAA men’s Division I basketball.
Selected The first black coach of a Division I school, Willie Jeffries, and former Super Bowl standouts Troy Brown and Emerson Boozer head the divisional class selected for the College Football Hall of Fame. Jeffries was hired by Wichita State in 1979.
Leaving One-time Super Bowl most valuable player Doug Williams said he’s leaving the front office of the Buccaneers to pursue “new options.” A former Bucs quarterback who later led the Washington Redskins to a Super Bowl championship, Williams served as Tampa Bay’s director of pro personnel during last season’s 3-13 finish.
Suing Former track coach Trevor Graham is suing the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency for $30 million, saying the agency ruined his name when he was accused of providing performance-enhancing drugs to athletes. Graham says USADA “slandered my name for the whole world to see.”
