Released Boxer Antonio Margarito was released from Methodist Hospital in Dallas, where he had surgery to repair the orbital bone of his right eye that was fractured during his loss to Manny Pacquiao. Margarito had surgery on Tuesday and was released from the hospital early Wednesday. The former welterweight champion lost in lopsided fashion to Pacquiao on Saturday night at Cowboys Stadium in their fight for a vacant junior middleweight title.
Traded Speedy outfielder Rajai Davis was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays from the Oakland Athletics for a pair of minor leaguers in the second trade of the general managers’ meetings. Oakland last week acquired outfielder David DeJesus from Kansas City, making Davis superfluous. The A’s obtained right-handers Trystan Magnuson and Daniel Farquhar in the latest deal.

Suspended Idaho State University suspended assistant football coach Junior Falevai for the final game of the season after he was arrested for drunken driving over the weekend. Falevai will not be allowed to travel with the Bengals for Saturday’s game against third-ranked Eastern Washington.
Retired Former French Open champion Carlos Moya retired from tennis, ending a 15-year career because of a nagging foot injury. The former No. 1 said differing medical opinions on resolving the lingering right foot injury had left him with little option but to retire.
