Kamloops gets back at Chiefs
Blazers tie game late, win shootout
Two days after scoring 10 goals in a blowout win while hosting the Kamloops Blazers, the Spokane Chiefs tasted a dose of payback against the Blazers at Kamloops, British Columbia, on Friday night.
Dylan Willick of Kamloops scored an unassisted goal with 1:20 remaining in regulation and the Blazers (13-12-0-1) won the shootout 2-0 to defeat the Chiefs (12-9-1-2) 4-3 in WHL Western Conference action.
The Blazers looked to be the aggressor early, with Jordan DePape scoring a pair of first-period goals to give them the 2-0 advantage.
For the remainder of regulation, though, Spokane controlled the flow of the game.
The Chiefs outshot Kamloops 34-21 in the second and third periods, taking a 3-2 lead on Jared Cowen’s seventh goal of the season with 14:09 remaining in the third.
