Repairs force early closure of park’s Rotary Fountain

The Rotary Fountain in Riverfront Park has closed early for the season.

Maintenance issues have forced the early closure, according to a news release from the city of Spokane Parks and Recreation Department. Typically, the fountain is on until mid-October.

The main filter pump has a leak and needs to be rebuilt, according to the release. Additionally, the parks department has spent $1,400 on the fountain’s computer control board, and it still isn’t working properly.

With the fountain shut off, crews can work on these issues while saving water, chemical and electrical costs, the release said.
