Tips sought on missing man after car found

Terry L. Mattingly (Stevens County Sheriff's Office)
Major crimes detectives are asking for help finding a 45-year-old Spokane Valley man reported missing in May. A Kellogg, Idaho, police officer found Terry L. Mattingly’s red Ford Tempo last month when he stopped its female driver, who said she’d bought the car from Mattingly a week earlier in the Rose Lake area. But detectives still cannot find Mattingly, who was reported missing by his daughter on May 17. Mattingly’s daughter said her father “was becoming increasingly paranoid about other family members” and had left his home in the 2100 block of North Lily a week earlier. Mattingly uses alcohol daily and marijuana infrequently, police said. Detectives entered his information in the national police intelligence network, which led Kellogg police to identify the Tempo Aug. 21 “Detectives now are hopeful that someone will recognize Mattingly and be able to provide his location to law enforcement,” according to a news release form the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. “Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233, or their local law enforcement agency.”
