Founders and flintlocks

According to Mr. Burton’s Jan. 18 letter, in which he said that the Constitution should be interpreted according to the original intent of its Founders rather than the changing whims of society, shouldn’t the right to bear arms be limited to muzzleloaders and flintlocks?

Surely, if the Founders had intended the Constitution to evolve with changes in science, industry and society, would they not have written “the right of the people to keep and bear arms as they exist now and as they may change in the future shall not be infringed”?
