Assured The agent for Bobcats rookie center Bismack Biyombo insists the seventh pick in the NBA draft will play for Charlotte next season despite a buyout dispute with his Spanish team. A spokesman for the Madrid-based Fuenlabrada said last month the team is fine in letting the 18-year-old Biyombo out of the last two years of his contract, but expects to receive a $1.4 million buyout.

Reinstated Iowa State reinstated suspended men’s basketball center Jordan Railey, although he will not be allowed to play in the first three games next season. Railey was suspended following his arrest in April for fighting in public.

Departed Iowa men’s basketball guard Anthony Hubbard, who spent nearly four years in prison on robbery charges before earning a Division I scholarship, has left the program without ever suiting up for the Hawkeyes. The 26-year-old Hubbard has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Re-signed The Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins re-signed defenseman Adam McQuaid to a three-year contract extension that will keep him in the fold through the 2014-15 season.

Announced Georgia linebacker Richard Samuel will return to tailback this season, according to an announcement made by coach Mark Richt.

Arrested The girlfriend of a man suspected in the near-fatal beating of a San Francisco Giants fan has been arrested in Las Vegas. Denise Piccione is being held in the Clark County jail on charges of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a dangerous weapon after a weekend arrest at a hotel.

Convicted A jury in Santa Ana, Calif., found Eric Naposki, a former NFL linebacker, guilty of killing Southern California millionaire William McLaughlin nearly 17 years ago. Jurors found Naposki guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of McLaughlin in his Newport Beach home in 1994.
