Milk Bottle and Ferguson’s both heavily-damaged in fire…

Good morning, Netizens…

At approximately 8:42 PM Sunday night, preparing for bed, we couldn’t help but hear the wailing of sirens as the Fire Department responded to a three-alarm fire in the Garland District as two historic restaurants were burning. Mary Lou’s Milk Bottle and Ferguson’s Restaurant were engulfed in flames as the fire trucks arrived, and both iconic eateries were heavily damaged, although no damage estimates were available from the Fire Department nor is the cause of the fire(s) known at this time.

Fire crews were able to enter the Milk Bottle and somewhat protected the building but they were unable to get inside Ferguson’s Cafe, and fought that fire from the outside of the building.

Driving down Garland Avenue, one could never help but notice the Milk Bottle, a distinctive structure sitting on the corner of Garland and Post. Right next door, Ferguson’s had been featured in several Hollywood films, including “Benny and Joon”, “Vision Quest” and “Why Would I lie?”.

If your culinary tastes range to include burgers, fries and big milk shakes, you may have to find a different place to dine, at least for awhile.

Dave
