Pair get terms for smuggling corals
BOISE – The U.S. attorney’s office in Idaho says a Middleton, Idaho, man and his ex-wife have been sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to illegally shipping live corals to buyers around the world.
Christopher Kay Conk and Deidra Davison were sentenced after pleading guilty to trafficking wildlife and violating the Endangered Species Act. Conk also pleaded guilty to smuggling goods from the United States,
Prosecutors said Conk owned and operated Coral Fanatics LLC, a Web-based retailer. Conk shipped coral internationally without a license, misrepresented what was in the packages and shipped coral that was protected by international treaties.
